I am an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education in the School of Education at Endicott College. I am also immediate past President of the North Eastern Philosophy of Education Society.
I am curious about how young children’s holistic development is supported in a variety of educational settings. Through my scholarship and research, I have specifically examined the ways in which K-2 children’s motivation to read and civic agency and development are supported and/or undermined in reading intervention programs. Presently, I am in the process of shifting my attention to consider these questions in places less commonly associated with literacy and/or civic learning opportunities.
Fueled by dedication to my young daughter and my past, present, and future students, as well as by my experiences as an elementary teacher and literacy specialist/coach, I am fully committed to working towards just and equitable education outcomes through my teaching, research, and scholarship.
You can find my work in a number of reputable journals including Teachers College Record, The Reading Teacher, and Literacy Research: Theory, Method, and Practice. I am currently writing a concise and accessible methods text for busy practitioner researchers.
